There really seems to be quite the issue concerning the Death Camp kids and their parents.

I guess they felt they had to out do their usual antics, of throwing shit and urine on people at previous gatherings, and go for the gold this year!
Pretty sad and pathetic for both the kids and the parents!!!

Alright, first of all I can't believe anyone has yet to comment on this yet.. This year was my first gathering and I had a wonderful time and met many fantastic people who I can't wait to meet up with again (just in watching these videos I see people I met and feel a rush of nostalgia/anticpation for the next gathering I attend). Now I understand that I am new to the family and probably don't have much cred when it comes to the subject but the two things that concerned me about the whole experience were Death Camp and A-Camp. Now, I am also aware of how fast a rumor can spread in rainbowland, but after seeing (AT ONE GATHERING) these kids running around main meadow spouting off things like "I fucking hate you family" or blasting air horns in unsuspecting victims ears its kind of hard for me to ignore things like "Death Camp kid stabs babysitter" etc, etc. Anyway these videos were made (obviously) to try to make us sympathetic toward their situation, which to some extent I already am (I mean clearly they've had a hard life). But at the same time its hard for me to accept (maybe cause I'm a noob?) that at an event thats based on love and togetherness that some of their shananigans are tolerated.. I mean theres a fine line between being peace loving and a pushover, no? Anyway on a more positive note, I actually kind of think they are hilarious (hypocrite!). All these peace loving hippies running around in the woods minding their own business when out of no where some semi-feral child flings mud at them screaming obscenities. In one story my friend told me (who was also a first timer) she unknowingly walked through death camp and was quickly surrounded by children who demanded that she take her shirt off, she managed to escape unharmed but its kinda awesome if you ask me. In conclusion this is a pretty tricky situation, you can't just ban them from family events because that goes against the principle of the whole thing but you also can't let them go on cursing, stabbing (allegedly), flinging feces at anyone they damn please either. Anyway can't wait for the next gathering I go to and I think I'll bring a couple rolls of a duct tape just in case. <3'n you.
I'm excited to know that Death Camp and A-Camp did not go unnoticed. I met some really amazing people this past year at the gathering, along with some people who I could've lived without. I was camped in Main Meadow, and I remember on the day of silence I was sleeping in my tent, and the Death Camp kids came running down Bitch Hill screaming, throwing fireworks and smoke bombs, kicking anyone or anything in their way. I went to go see what all the commotion was about, and there was the peace loving hippies surrounding the Death Camp and A Camp kids. It was almost comical how it all played out. But I agree, I feel like something should be done about them, but at the same time we can't do a damn thing. <3
i remember that morning of silence, besides my radio blasted in my earbud, since i currently worked as a Juvenile Prison Counselor that year's nationals, i replied that I CAME HOME TO PRAY FOR PEACE, not deal with some negative attentionseekers who need to heal & had came to the right place to do so, and u know me we talked that night at your deathcamp, Please come peacefully as WE all do, even me... love u family, Llama

All I know about the death camp kids is from the video footage I have seen of them. I'm sure there is a back story as to why these kids and their mother are so obnoxious. I am old school, my first gathering was 1978 and I haven't been since 1981 so it was a surprise to even hear about a camp called "Death Camp". It sounds like things have really deteriorated in hippiedom. These kids play the poor kid cards but they manipulative little brats taking advantage of the fact that everyone is trying to be so politically correct.In my opinion they are just more a-holes disguised as kids and they should have been brought into a circle of true elders and been given a choice to be decent loving human beings or leave. Who cares what they think or anyone else? People make choices. It is a peace gathering not a throw shit, firecracker, scream obscenities and cause chaos gathering. We get enough of that in the outside world. Grow up people and take care of the situation and stop allowing these nasty brats to ruin other people's experience at the gathering.
